DIY Chevron Sign

DIY Chevron Sign

Do you want to bring some chevron into your home, but the thought of tackling a big piece of furniture freaks you out? No problem. Start small like I did. I was tired of my black and white sign that said “Better Days are coming. They are called Saturday and Sunday.” It was to country and out-dated. I decided to give this sign a modern chevron facelift. It turned out funky and cool and was a breeze to make. Enjoy!

What you will need:

  • Old sign (You can pick one up cheap at your local craft store…mine still had the price tag of $4.99 on it.)
  • Acrylic craft paints (I used 2 solid and 2 glitter)
  • Painters tape
  • Sponge paint brush (small)
  • Good attitude

Instructions:

1. Using painters tape, tape off the edges of your sign. Then paint 2-3 coats of your base coat. Letting the paint dry between coats.

2. Once the base coat is dry, tape off your chevron pattern using painters tape.

3. Start painting your other chevron stripes. Letting the paint dry between coats.

4. Gently remove painters tape and touch-up here and there as needed. Don’t sweat if it isn’t perfect. Art is not perfect. It looks more handmade with some imperfections.

5. Give yourself a high-five while you admire your masterpiece!
