"Spring Me Up, Scottie!" - Strawberry and Cucumber Detox Drink

“Spring Me Up, Scottie!” – Strawberry and Cucumber Detox Drink

I’m enjoying my foray into the world of detox drinks as I try to not drink so much diet soda and drink more water. Remember my Super Duper Detox Drink, you know, the one that was like a liquid salad? It has been getting good reviews, so I thought I’d give another drink a try. Introducing what I like to call, “Spring Me Up, Scottie!” – Strawberry and Cucumber Detox Drink.

It’s springtime in a glass.

I was surprised how good this water tasted and how pretty it looked. I made a pitcher of it and drank on it all day. By the end of the day the water turned pink, but was still tasty. Don’t forget to snack on your fruit as you go. You want to get as many of the vitamins and antioxidants into your body as possible. If you want to get fancy, you can always use sparkling water to fizz things up.

What you will need:

• Strawberries | 16 (or however many you want)

Did you know that one serving of strawberries (about 8 strawberries) provides more vitamin C than an orange! Strawberries protect your heart, increase HDL (good) cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, and guard against cancer. They are packed with vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants. Strawberries are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity and are a good source of manganese and potassium.

• Cucumber | 1 sliced

Cucumbers are wonderful for great skin. They are full of great nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin A, iron, calcium, vitamin K and potassium. Cucumbers are especially great for detoxing because they prevent water retention and have anti-inflammatory properties.

• Lemon | 1 sliced

Packed with vitamin C and electrolytes, lemons can lower the risk of many diseases, help fight viruses, promote healthy skin and help with weight loss.

• Mint leaves | 6-8

Mint has a lot more health benefits then just freshening your breath. It helps with digestion, nausea, headaches, congestion and even depression and fatigue. Sign me up! I need some mint!!
