DIY Game On Birthday Party with FREE Printables and a Cool Cake!

Well, my youngest has decided to get another year older…WHAT?! He needs to stop growing up!! He wanted to have a sleep-over for his birthday, so we decided to have a gamer party. I came up with these fun “Game On” invites, door sign, goody bag tags and banner free printables. I also made a DIY Pac-Man screen table-cloth, Triforce (from the game Zelda) Cake and Pac-Man cake. The party was a huge success! Enjoy!!

Decorations

  • Download and customize the 8×10 front door sign then print, place in an 8×10 frame or do what I did, using thumbtacks, tack it onto a cork board. Hang on your front door to welcome all of your gamer friends. {Template instructions below}.

  • I also used this cool chalkboard arrow sign that I wrote “Gamer Convention” on and placed by the front door. The pizza delivery guy got a kick out of it :).

  • Make a Pac-Man screen as your table-cloth! You will need: A roll of chalkboard paper, blue painter’s tape, white chalk, scotch tape, paper plates and scissors. 1. Lay your chalkboard paper over your table and secure with scotch tape. 2. Using your blue painter’s tape, tape off the game board. 3. Use white chalk to add the dots. 4. Finally, cut out a mouth for your Pac-Man plates then set them around the table. Your guest’s will be “wowed”–high impact for little effort!!!!

  • Make a banner. Download, print then cut out your banner pieces. I taped my pieces to a length of fun ribbon. I hung our banner on our light fixture above our dinning room table. You could print more copies of the banner to make a longer banner to hang on your fireplace or wall. {Template instructions below}.

Goody Bags

  • Download the goody bags labels. Cut them out and staple onto your gift bag. We filled our Game On goody bags with Warheads Sour Twists, Finger Lasers and a couple small candy bars. {Template instructions below}.

The Cake

  • For the cake, my hubby baked 4 round red velvet cakes (my son’s favorite). Three of those cakes became the Zelda Triforce Cake (I know, we had no idea what that was, but Pinterest helped us!). This cake was three triangles, cut out of three round cakes that were iced, then positioned on a large cutting board covered in foil in the shape of Triforce (see the pic).

  • With the fourth round cake, I made a Pac-Man cake. Super easy and ADORABLE! First, ice your cake with yellow icing then cut a slice out of the cake out for Pac-Man’s mouth. Set the sliced piece of cake aside. Using chocolate chips, make an eye for your Pac-Man above his mouth (the cut out piece). Place your cake on the Pac-Man screen table-cloth that you made. I used marshmallows as the dots going in to Pac-Mans mouth (about 6). Your Pac-Man cake is done! Now celebrate by eating that extra piece you set aside before all the hooligans get to your party!!
